Receiving a beautiful bouquet of roses can be marred by the disappointment of their rapid wilting. However, there’s a solution: propagate roses! You can easily do this at home by taking a rose cutting from purchased flowers or an existing plant. Among various propagation methods, the water glass method is particularly effective. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
  • Aloe Vera as a Rooting Agent:
    • Cut the rose just below the flower using shears.
    • Measure five knots down the stem and make a diagonal cut below the fifth knot.
    • Extract aloe vera pulp by tearing a leaf, cutting both ends, and extracting the center pulp.
    • Blend the aloe vera pulp until smooth and pour it into a glass.
    • Dip the rose cutting into the pulp and let it rest for five days.
    • Plant the cutting in high-quality peat moss and use the remaining juice as a spray.
  • Aloe Vera + Rose Cutting Method:
    • Cut the top and bottom of both the rose and aloe vera cuttings.
    • Place the rose cutting into the aloe vera cutting, creating a layered structure in a jar.
    • Cover the cutting with soil, leaving the top part of the aloe cutting visible.
    • The aloe acts as a container, preventing excessive moisture absorption by the soil.
    • Promotes rooting, and new shoots should emerge within a few weeks
